Peace Corps Nomination

I was told that I had to post my Peace Corps updates here or I might be in danger of losing life or limb...ok not really but people have been asking for it so here it is.

As most of you know I have been in the process of applying for the PC since March. In July I finally finished the first round of papers, which included a resume and a couple essays, and after a short wait I had another packet of info that had to be completed. That only took two or three days so I was happy about that. On August 13 I had an interview with my recruiter.

Last Friday I got a call from my recruiter and was told that I had received a nomination to serve in Sub-Saharan Africa in Secondary Science Education leaving in June 2011. This is not an official invitation to serve in the PC but a strong recommendation by my recruiter to the Placement Office in DC. My next step will be medical and a background check. If I pass those I will receive an official invitation. About 10 days after the invitation I will receive a packet of info that will list my specific destination and time of departure. However, up until I physically step foot on a plane, all dates, time, and locations are subject to change as programs will open and close based on need and on-site conditions.

So that is all I have so far. I hope that by the end of October I will have an official invitation and destination. I will keep everyone posted...as I enjoy my limbs...
