For the past two weeks Jim was in Redmond, WA in a boot camp type training class with Microsoft.
The official title is Microsoft Certified Master Directory program for Windows Server 2008 R2. To the lay person, it’s one more notch in his nerd belt, and something that few people in the world have. Among his class members were nerds from Switzerland, Germany, Greece and Thailand.
Tuition is thousands of dollars and I believe he said there is an 85% failure rate for the course. It’s intense classroom and lab work. Long days seven days a week (x 2) in a room with no windows and very little contact with the outside world. Forget seeing sunshine, if it even thought about showing it’s face in the northwest.
Frankly, I don’t know how he survived just the fact that he was away from me!
The course is extremely tough and getting to the end is an achievement in itself. The final test in the series was a 10 hour lab test. Ugh! I can’t even imagine it.
He received word this afternoon that he passed the course.
I’m very happy for him and just wanted to share.
Congratulation, Certified Master! Nice goin' Jim. We are proud of you.
