One of the first weekends Jim was here he asked, "What do people think about when they spend time in the woods?" Maybe some of you hunters can answer that. I've enjoyed this respite to reflect on where I've been, how I got here, what I've learned along the way. And most importantly getting really clear on where I want to go, what I want my life to look like from here. For me, that includes everything from planning for retirement to leisure activities to what is the legacy I leave in this world.
To some degree the weather determines how productive I am each day. It's amazing the range of temperatures, from low's in the 40's to high's in the mid 80's (with no A/C!). I have a bike route around the lake I like to do, and if it's cool I like to begin or end the day with a campfire. In between I connect with the outside world, calling and emailing my clients who have no idea where I'm sitting. Luckily I can work when I'm feeling productive, and not when the clock says it's time to work. What an amazing world we live in. What gratitude I have for this work.
I have a birthday card I need to get in the mail. The nearest town is about 15 minutes away (population less than 2,000); the town we do our weekly provisioning in is Marquette, about a 1/2 hour away (I don't know how many miles, Dad ;-) ). I should have planned better. I'm going to see if the corner store down the road (a "Fred's) has a stamp when I go on my bike ride later. I just don't feel like going to town today. :-)
[Well, I can't quite get these pictures exactly where I want them in this post. Still learning.]

That's some pretty heavy philosophical stuff you are thinking about there, young lady. It sounds a littl like some of the things guys think about sitting on a deer stand. I must warn you tho', one thing I have learned over the years is that life rarely turns out the way you imagined it would. You just have to deal with it as it comes at you.
