Hi Folks,
I am sad to report that I broke my favorite coffee cup this week. It is 24 degrees below zero in International Falls this morning and I miss the feel of it in my hand. My cup was nothing special, just an old white mug, slightly wider at the top than at the base, with a handle size just right for two fingers, which held just the right amount of coffee at just the right temperature. But it was the one I always reached for in the cupboard. (I have a backup, which is almost as good, but it is definitely second string).
It happened innocently enough. I took my first cup of coffee out to the garage with me one morning last week. I was checking on the condition of some fisher and marten pelts that we caught recently. I set my cup down on a sawhorse and turned to do something and next thing I knew I heard a smashing sound. I looked in horror to see my favorite cup broken into a million pieces. I might have even said a bad word (starts with S) rather loudly. Nothing to do but pick up the pieces and chastise myself for being so careless. For the rest of the week I have been trying out "replacements" from the cupboard and nothing so far has felt right. Soooo, if you happen to see any old, white porcelain coffee mugs in antique shops or at garage sales, please buy it for me and ship it to International Falls! I'll gladly reimburse you for the price and shipping costs.
Ah, bummer. I completely understand the favorite mug concept. Thanks for sharing, and I'll certainly keep an eye out.
ReplyDeleteBummer indeed. i can relate to that also. just hate to lose a favorite cup! I have one like you describe in the cupboard and was going to bring it to you, but then you said you had found it's mate in the camp kit, so I will hang onto the one I have, just in case.
